The artist

Canada-based mixed media artist Judy Huck makes paintings using various techniques. Each piece has unique characteristics and are often abstract in nature. Judy’s work is colorful and bold. It captures the viewers attention and imagination while stimulating the mind.

In 2000 Judy's interest in web and graphic design inspired her to enrol in the Fine Arts Certificate Program in Multimedia Design at the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta. Some of the instructors in the program often told the class, “Never put your sketch pad away.” The pad did disappear for a couple of years and then resurfaced in 2004.

The medium of choice for Judy at that time was acrylic paint and water-based oils but since then has worked with acrylics, prisma colors, pen and ink, alcohol inks, watercolor pencils, pencil crayons, resin, and most recently acrylic fluid art. Every piece is unique, abstract and seems to represent nature and our environment.

Judy's fascination with nature and the colorful world around us is displayed in her art. Lifelong learning has always been important to Judy and as a result has taken many courses with excellent instructors since completing the Fine Arts Certificate in 2003. As a mixed media artist Judy continuously explores various styles and art techniques.

Other than Judy's passion for the fine arts, music and photography has always played an important role in her life. A friend introduced her to a banjolele a few years ago and immediately this instrument became her best friend.
